Hollywood Ballet is Hollywood's own chamber contemporary and modern ballet dance company. Our dances are inspired by the Bible, mythology, and the human condition with passionately intense, character and story driven dance based in a fusion of the techniques of ballet, modern, jazz and world dance. Some works are also inspired by the artistic genius of Michelangelo, Bernini, Rodin, Dali and others. Our first performance, at DanceSpot in Silverlake (LA) in November 2011, featured The Bride and Afterfall , and won audience raves! We are currently beginning a new work based on Salvador Dali's drawings for Dante's Divine Comedy. This will be a suite of dances- L'Inferno, Il Purgatorio, and Il Paradiso. Completed works include: Afterfall, inspired by the story of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, and the 5 Stages of Grieving theory of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. The Bride, a pointe solo inspired by the Song of Songs (That Which is Solomon's). The Groom, a male solo and the companion piece to The Bride, also inspired by the Song of Songs. Kyrie, set to Mozart's Requiem. ἐξανίσταμαι, a dance inspired by the story of Mary Magdalene. Please visit this page again soon for an update on these and other works-in-progress!
